Schmidt presses are just about maintenance free.
They do not require frequent lubrication and pneumatically powered presses operate with dry, non-lubricated air. All manual and pneumatic presses have no lubrication points.
All pivot points utilize Teflon lined bushings.
Occasionally wipe the ram with a lightly oiled towel. Do not use cleaning solvents as they will dry out bearing surfaces.
Air cylinders and valves are maintenance free. Pistons do not have seals. Teflon lined bushings and guide strips provide long, reliable operation.
Do not use cleaning solvents as they will dry out bearing surfaces.
Compressed air should be dry and oil-free. If lubricated oil is used, continue to lubricate the air, as the oil will wash out lubricants that were applied in the assembly process of the press.
ServoPress model 405 through 417 lubricates itself after a factory set number of cycles via a built in grease reservoir. Prompted by the control, a maintenance person needs to replenish this reservoir with grease. From model 420 on up, the grease is supplied via built in cartridge. The control will notify the operator once the grease has been used up. Make sure the cartridge is always replaced and not refilled in order to prevent contamination. Additionally, the spindle may discard used grease into this reservoir. Refer to the Operator’s Manual for more details.
Bottom line, with a SCHMIDT press you never have to worry about maintenance.
